The Princess & her peas

It’s been so wet this summer that our dam has been overflowing, the vines are constantly plagued with the spectre of mould and the grass grows a foot high in three days flat. The only consolation is that the vegetables seem to have done well, which is great since food prices are on the rise with the Queensland and Victoria floods wiping out entire harvests this year.

Little Dylan helps shuck peas from the garden. My first taste of homegrown peas was a revelation. So sweet and crisp, you just eat them straight from the pod. Dylan stuffed herself silly…

I’ve never seen a kid enjoy vegetables so much, but when they are this good, it does make sense…

  1. These were heirloom peas – but now she’s eaten the all there’s not much left to bequeath. Live in the now baby Princess !
